I’m at a loss. In cleaning out the diabetes cupboard (aka the shelves dedicated to diabetes stuff in my pantry), I found over a decade’s worth of Dexcom receivers. And old glucose meters. And the exciting-at-the-time-yet-now-obsolete Dexcom Share dock.
What’s a girl to do with all this old diabetes tech?
Instagram friends recommended bringing the stuff to Best Buy (they recycle old devices) or donating it to diabetes museums, while others privately messaged in search of older-yet-still-usable devices. And of course there were a few folks who admitted to having bins of their own diabetes archives, stashed away in their homes.
Where do you recycle/upcycle your stuff?
You know how to pick them Kerri. It’s so funny I just watched Marie Kondo
I am opening a museum in my basement. I have told my sons it is their inheritance and I am collecting five of everything. Most in in original boxes.
Wow are they ever going to be disappointed Oh well.
We are getting ready to move and at the bottom of one of the closets I found a plastic tub full of old diabetes stuff. I haven’t been sure what to do with it so it’s just sitting there.
What are great question !! I have older pumps, and boxes and boxes of tubings/ reservoirs etc. and meters…and strips. You name it ! I’d love suggestions! Tried selling it on eBay and they pulled my ad, saying if it’s a prescription item, it can’t be sold… and I’m just not a seller, almost rather donate it but where ? My CDE shakes her head when she sees more “stuff”.
Use Craigslist alice! Great article. Should set up table at friends for life conference.
I donated all of my boxes of Animas tubing, reservoirs, etc. when I changed to a Tandem pump last year – did a little research online and found a local Children’s Clinic who was glad to take them. But I too have old pumps, meters, and Dexcom receivers that I’m not sure what to do with. Is any of this type of stuff still useful? Would love to be able to donate/recycle them….
Funny I should come across this now, as I just found my old stuff tonight, and it looks a lot like yours! Please follow up if you ever found a place to take them.
