Sweet Little Lancet.

Sweet little lancet
You are so damn tough.
I keep you until
All your edges are rough,
Until your sharp peak
Becomes dull and harpoons.
Oh sweet little lancet,
I will change you soon.

Sweet little lancet,
You deploy with a thud.
It can take several tries
To get you to draw blood.
And at that point, you’d think,
I’d wise up and swap out.
But sweet little lancet,
You should have your doubts.

Sometimes I forget
I have a vast collection.
No need to reuse!
I’m inviting infection.
I should change you out
Before you get strange,
But it takes a reminder
(Like when the clocks change.)

Sweet little lancet,
I respect what you do.
My supply closet’s stashed
With an army of you.
But in the event
There’s a cure that’s clever,
I’ll repurpose your ass;
I’ll have thumbtacks forever.

What kind/brand of lancet is that?

  3. That is so funny—I thought I was the only one who never changes my lancets! Thanks for sharing this. 🙂

I never thought to use them as thumbtacks; I use them for splinters. They work amazingly!

Yes they are great for splinters, I’ve used new ones on others to get them out. It seems a waste, as I get most of a year out of one for myself, my box of 60+\- is a life time worth

  5. I am like a druid. I change mine only at the winter and summer solstice…whether they need it or not. After 35 years x 5 a day x 365 days per year = 63,875 fingersticks, with no adverse events with probably 75 lancet changes, I think I am safe to say that changing the lancet each time is probably not necessary…

Me too! We suffer enough as PWD’s without using un-fresh lancets. Also, isn’t that device from the ’80’s? Just for dramatic effect, I’m hoping! I remember that bad boy being like a guillotine.

    Don’t be upset
    I’m not a freak
I change my lancet once a week

This is not something I need to fix
I “lance it” with a Multiclix.
