You Can Do THIS: My Video.

When you're dealing with something relentless each day,
It can feel like frustrations are seconds away.
There's the burnout, depression of chronic disease
The chaos that comes with attempts to appease.

We do blood sugar testing, precision carb counting,
We're wearing devices to aid in surmounting
The pressure of acting as panceri stand-ins.
This whole diabetes can sure be demanding!

We lean on our doctors, we lean on our friends,
We lean on our families and try to no end
To master this monster known as diabetes.
We try, and we stumble, but get back on our feeties.

Because we can do this!  I know that we can!
We can master this monster! We can draft up a plan!
Or just fumble days we're unsure how to weather.
The point is, we're in this, and in this together.

You can do this!  You can.  If I can, so can you.
I'm the last diabetic who knows what to do.
I try hard to succeed in managing this whole mess.
I am so far from perfect, but I do my best.

If you have diabetes, you are not alone.
You're part of a group that has blossomed and grown.
We're all living with this. We hold on to each other.
We'll get through today and move on to another.

You can do this.  I swear.  Even days that are tough
Come with moments that prove how you can be tough.
There's a life to be lived, one that I wouldn't miss.
So hold your head high.  You can do THIS.

...and for the parents as well dear Kerri...just spent the past 36 hours trying to get test strips for Edward under our new insurance...today I weep feeling the heaviness...thank you for helping ME today...:))

Oh, Kerri. This is so great!! (I especially loved the use of "feeties". Classic.) I love your message here, and as always, you're helping others with diabetes realize that they, too, can do this. We may not be perfect, but we can still be awesome.

Thank you - for this, and for everything!

Kerri, this is awesome! You so need to turn this into a Dr. Suisse type book and sell it. It's a message we need in a children's type book to read through when we are having one of those days.

@emmy beat me to my comment... I would LOVE to see this as a book in the style of Dr. Seuss!

Between yesterday's post with all the HOPE and this one full of DETERMINATION, I am feeling very empowered. Thanks ;)

Kerri,
That's absolutely awesome. Way to go! and thank you.

Well done, Dr. Suess. Well done.

Kerri - this is AWESOME! Thanks!

Your poem is awesome. Your courage is awesome too. My husband battles these demons daily. All of you are my heros. I too would like to see your poem shared for all who carry the manacle of Type 1 Diabetes.

Needs more cursing (just kidding)!

I love this. Thank you.

Wonderful.

Love it!!!

FANTASTIC!!! Dr. Seuss would be proud. Thanks for sharing those words of encouragement!

Your timing is uncanny Kerri . I just got home feeling utterly deflated (defeated) from playing in the park with my daughter, then getting a wicked low. I needed this, thank you for the pick-me-up.

FEETIES!

Wonderful poem, thank you so much! :)

"There's a life to be lived." So TRUE!Thanks for the poem pep talk! You are fabulous as always! :)

Kerri, your blog should come with tissues. You've got me sniffling again. This was so great. I just don't have words to tell you how much it touched me. You are a rockstar!!!

This is great! Thank you for sharing!

My vote is that you rhyme all the time!!!

Having the hardest three months that I have had in the past 12 years with this monster on my back, your poem made me cry even harder than I did this afternoon. But, at least the tears are of encouragement and friendship. Thank you Kerri for being with all of us daily.

I love it!!
you made my day...

Fun! Made me smile!

LOVE this! You should definitely get it published. Very Dr. Seuss! I LOVE FEETIES!!!!! Totally fabulous. I am going to print it and save it to show my T1 4 year old in a while when she can read. Actually she already can (she thinks she is 14) so perhaps I'll show it to her today :)

That was amazing!!

LOVE, Love, love it!! Thank you..

AWEsometastic. :-)

Whoa! This is great!!!! Really really great, keep up the encouragement and the trying - as you say - we're in it together!!!!

Soooo great Kerri! Love it!

Thank you for the humor and encouragement! I also want to thank you for being the first one to comment on my first ever blog post. If it wasn't for your encouragement, I wouldn't be where I am today with the DOC.

Dr. Kerri Seuss...love it!!

Wow! This is EXACTLY what I needed to hear today. Some how, it made everything feel more manageable.

After study a few of the blog posts on your website now, and I truly like your way of blogging. I bookmarked it to my bookmark website list and will be checking back soon. Pls check out my web site as well and let me know what you think.

Hi Kerri, I have been reading your blog for a while now and love it :) I am off work sick at the moment and utterly fed up. I came here to watch old videos and find encouragement and understanding. Thank you, you did not fail to deliver. The Internet is an amazing place, what a miracle to be comforted by someone thousands of miles away (I live in Scotland!) Thank you
