NinjaBread Cookies.

Yesterday, my mom and I made attempts to make a bunch of Christmas cookies.  We started out early(ish) in the morning, and with some normal looking cookies and with our brains fully functioning.  We made some delicious winners, like these tasty Hershey Kiss cookies that have a tinge of peanut butter and are melty and awesome.

Hershey Kiss cookies are the BOMB.

However, after too many cookies cycling in and out of the oven, and after decorating dozens and dozens, we started to lose it a little bit.  Maybe we got a little punchy.  Or bored.  Or a dangerous combination of both.  Either way, by the time we got to the gingerbread people, we were both silly.  We tried to keep them standard, like this Santa Claus cookie, complete with little paper present and sassy raisin eyes:

But then we digressed into gingerbread kitties (made from the regular gingerbread man shape, only with added cat features to fool consumers into thinking this cookie should have a tail):

Gingerbread Kitty?

"Oh NO!  MR. BILL ATE MY LEG OFF!"  Or some such comment from this mushy gingerbread man, complete with bloodied stump.  (My mother stopped calling these "cute" and instead starting asking me if I had anything I wanted to talk about.)

Imagine he's screaming, "AHHH! MY LEG! THAT NINJA CUT OFF MY LEG!"

And these, the best of the bunch:  NinjaBread cookies.  GingerNinjas?  (For you, SuperG!)  However you slice them, these cookies weren't baked, but instead stalked themselves into crispy, sneaky perfection:

Gingerbread Ninjas - George, this guy is lookin' at YOU!

The ninjas came in both purple and green, had red cinnamon ninja "stars," and took to hiding in the fake snow in my mother's Christmas village, where they were joined by the cat cookie.   Then the snowmen pretzels wearing their sombreros visited the scene.

Of course.

... I'm a little nervous that my baby may not understand me.  ;)

OK Kerri- Colin is begging me for a ninja gingerbread cookie! Too flippin cute. And your baby will totally get you.

love the humor as always - especially the ninjas...

(I used to eat the kisses off those peanut butter cookies because I couldn't stand peanut butter. Annoyed my mother to have plain old peanut butter cookies with a groove where the kiss was.)

How precious and fun - all of the cookies.
I thought those may be bacon bits on the Ninja costume.

so cute! And yes, hours of cookie making will
do that...make ya a bit looney.Been there,done that.

Seriously, fabulous!!! :)

Love the cookies. Were they at least bolus worthy? :)

How addorable!!
And dont worry i am sure your doughter will understand and LOVE YOU ALOT!!!

Yum! I've only threatened to make cookies so far, but I find your handiwork totally inspiring so cookies might actually happen :)

WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE HOW AWESOME THOSE NINJA COOKIES ARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for making those! It will be a Merry Christmas after all! :)

I'm jealous: none of my cookies came out nearly as normal looking. I seriously think the folk at some of these recipe kitchens don't know the difference between 1-1/4" and 1-3/4", or between 1/4" and 1/8": there is very little cookie around my pb blossoms, the "gingerbread pretzels" (pretzel-shaped cookies) took 5 minutes each to roll out and still too stiff, the sugar-free cookies are too tall (IMO), and the gingerbread men came out looking like shapeless blobs. The normal sugar cookies looked OK (but a bit flat) until I started decorating the 4" angels without a plan (or the correct consistency of icing). The "Mexican Chocolate" cookies need more cocoa and less sweetener than the recipe calls for... and this was following the damned instructions. Only Suzanne's spiced pecans came out perfect (we're going down with 3 lb -- for munching and gifts).

The other possibility is that your daughter will be exactly like you. My mom always says that her mom told her she would have a child exactly like her and...well there you go.

Naturally this means BSparl will make Gingerbread Pirates and the 2 of you will be destined for an epic battle for the ages. In cookie form.

Might be a good thing that I had some electrical installation to do in the basement......

Fantastical cookies! Don't worry, your daughter will TOTALLY get the all the wonderfulness that is you!

You have a wonderful family...and next year BGSparl will be joining you around the cookie-making counter...adding her own bits of whimsy. What a beautiful visual...Grandma, Mommy and BGSparl making the holidays bright.
God bless...

I think they should be named "GingaNinjas" and pronounced with the appropriate MA/RI accent!!

Merry Christmas Kerri to you Chris and Baby Sparl.. May all your family have a wonderful day..Chris is luck to have a very funny person like yourself.. Keep the Belly picture coming.. Love these pics..
Take Care

i'm sure your daughter will understand you. I have a "mini-me" that people can't distinguish isn't my clone, so i'm sure you'll have one of those too.}}

C is for Cookie
that's good enough for me
