NaNo NaNo.

(Sorry, Bobby – stole your joke.)

Bleary eyes.  Not even a pond of Visine could help me today.  NaNo is doing a great job of drawing the focus from my grief and channeling it creatively.  It’s also doing a great job of depriving me in the sleep department and making me a little fussed.  Eight days into this NaNo mesBig Stack O' Bookss and I’m way behind the expected word count.  My project is plodding along and the pages are starting to spin out with a bit more ease, but I already hate my main character.  I’ve changed her name three times and have plotted a way to eventually kill her off.

All in all, standard fare for a Wednesday morning.

I know there are several bloggers navigating through NaNo themselves – how is that going for you?  Am I the only one who is actually typing the words, “Just pick an adjective and get on with it, for crying out loud, Kerri,” leaving little italics breadcrumbs for myself all over the manuscript file?  I re-read some of my project last night and snickered at myself when I came to an italicized paragraph that read “Kerri, stop thinking about grilled cheese sandwiches.  They won’t inspire you.  Write something decent and reward yourself with food, a la Charlie Kaufman in Adaptation.”

If you’re doing NaNo this year, share your username and I’d love to add you to my writing buddies.

For now, it's back to work and back to listening to the rain dance on the skylight above my desk.  Tonight, NaNo and I will resume our war.

Yup, I'm plodding my way through also. Word count is in the crapper at the moment though. Just posted about it a few minutes ago.

username is floreksa.

Sarah - That word counter thing is haunting me. I hate it.

I just added you as one of my buddies. My username is Jetta11.

I'm bleary-eyed and I'm not even doing this thing.

Sounds daunting.

But really cool, too.

Keep us posted on your progress!

I'm always bleary-eyed and I won't be attempting NaNo any time soon. It's too much pressure, man, I can't handle the pressure!

I came here to complain about how I've been slacking on the NaNoWriMo, but became distracted by the NaNo-NaNo joke.

Did you know I once knew a couple in H.S. named Mark and Mindy...I'm not kidding it's true.

Maybe I'll add that story to my novel. I'll fit it in between the reference to Charles Lindbergh and the part where my character's boss grabs her boob.

Sandra - Just reading about it is enough to make people feel exhausted. If I finish this thing, I'm making a cake and eating the whole thing. :)

Julia - Ahhh!!! The pressure!

Shannon - I can't wait to (maybe?) read your story. It sounds scintillating.

Scintillating is not the word...believe me.

It's just a meandering story that doesn't make sense and since I don't have time to do research, I have no idea if what I'm writing about is even plausible.

Think of it as diarrhea of the brain...what ever spews out just sticks to the page.

Um, I'm doing this - user name is nicolep. My excerpt, though, is not showing up the way it should - there are italics missing... Bastards! And I really suck - I'm at just over 3,000 words. I'm sorry but the quantity not quality thing is just not my bag. At all.

Hope all is well. Kerri, I got your email and I'll be replying as soon as I get a minute... :)

Mmmmm... grilled cheese sandwiches...

Nicole - Just added you. :)

Scott - As soon as I hit 10,000 words, I'm making a big, grilled cheese sandwich and eating it in one gulp.

Hi Kerri! My userID is LittleNell. I don't know if I'll make 50K this month (I'm also doing some MONSTER editing), but it's worth a try... :D Luck to ya!

Next year, maybe I'll try the novel. I'd at least like to try and write a couple of poems this month. I feel like it's been forever since I wrote something new. :P
