Exist Magazine
After weeks of preparation and some long, bleary-eyed nights staring at a computer screen and praying for the WebDesign Fairy to come and design the damn thing for us, it's finally here.
Featuring articles by a staff of talented writers from around the globe and edited by Chris and me, EXIST MAGAZINE is my foray into the world of Non-D related publishing.
Take a read.

Kerri,
Exist Rocks! I knew you were going to blow this popsicle stand soon. I just knew it.
(Oh, and on the constructive criticism side, a bunch of the articles look like they're "falling off the page" at the end, so hard to read -- but a quick fix, I'm sure).
Rock on, Ms. Kerri!

You guys are starting a magazine?!! That's awesome!
What's this about Weed??

...so this is why your posts have been sparse lately? (As if moving wasn't enough!)
Exist is awesome, and boy, does your article hit home. I think I'll make it required reading for my students. ;-)
Way to go!

How exciting for both of you.
Weed?? Hmm, my parents told me to stay away from drugs, and I did. No regrets. I have never felt that I missed out on anything.
My husband and I passed that belief along to our kids and now pass that strong belief to stay away from drugs of any kind - to our 3 granddaughters.
But each to their own.
Best wishes to both of you Kerri.

Nice to see you've gone ahead with the e-zine thing.
I believe what Amy is talking about is the fact that you have declared strict heights on a bunch of the div tags and while IE 6 will expand that blue box to make things fix, other browsers (including the upcoming IE 7) are not going to expand that box (which is actually correct). You may want to consider at some point changing over to wordpress to manage all your articles. It will make things a lot easier laster on in life when you go through redesigns. There are a bunch of other quick fixes that can be done to make things consistent and make the site load a lot quicker. Let me know if you want some help with this stuff.
Congrats again.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I'm a fledgling web-disaster and the learning process has been arduous. I appreciate the feedback!
Re: the infamous "weed" article, that article is from the depths of Chris' mind. I don't advocate drug use and the opinions expressed within Exist magazine aren't necessarily mine.
... however, the opinions expressed here on Six Until Me are all mine and I'm fully to blame for any chaos that stems from here! :)

I love that sexy cover girl!

Wow! Going to check it out right now.

I love it! Congrats!

kerri: Don't let your fine writing be marred by needless gramatical errors. It is edited by "Chris and me"
Posted by: Anonymous | July 10, 2006 02:18 PM
Ahhh! A typo! And I can't even blame it on typing!
My apologies: Chris and me. I'll update the site asap. And then I'll go whack myself on the wrist with Strunk & White's "The Elements of Style". :)
Thank you!
... actually, should it be "Chris and I"? I'm not sure.
Posted by: Kerri. | July 10, 2006 02:30 PM
No, it's "Chris and me," because you are the objects of the sentence. If you'd written, "Chris and I edited the xyz," then it would be "I" because you'd be the subject.

Got carried away with the grammar nitpicking--congrats on the magazine! It looks lovely.

Easiest way to remember that one is to take out the other person and see how it sounds.
The magazine is edited by me. Sounds much better than The magazine is edited by I.
There was a typo in my article, too...my fault, though, I turned it in that way. Whoops.

Julia, Where's the typo? I'll fix it when I go home tonight...

I'm late to the bandwagon (do you have a bandwagon? that would be so cool), but let me ditto all those remarks: Nice job, love the initiative, and keep on keepin' on!
I completely ID on the corporate article. After working the the non-profit and government sectors for 8 years, I gave the private sector a try. I lasted all of 11 months. There is a sad reason Dilbert and Office Space were created: it's funny 'cause it's true.
And one more thing to be aware of: the main page doesn't layout well in Firefox. I'm dealing with some cross-browser problems on a page I'm currently developing too. I'm repeatedly banging my head on the keyboard because I don't *really* know what I'm doing, so I'm resigned to trial and error (and trial and error, and trial and error... ad nauseum). Seems that cross-browswer problems are the bane of every web-developer/publisher's existance.
